Hack Wellington from home, work, the bus, or the bar

logoOK, so we heard you, a lot of you can’t make it to the Wellington Hackathon coming up on the 1st and 2nd of November, but you want to be involved. Well, thanks to a company called Social Pinpoint, you can. They’ve donated a very cool Cloud service to allow people to “pin” ideas, problems, thoughts, pictures and other information on a map of Wellington in real time.

On the 1st and 2nd of November 2014, geeks, freaks, and residents are coming together to hack Wellington City in the heart of Miramar, Wellington’s creative suburb. Places are limited however if you can’t attend you can still make your mark.

A Civic Hackathon is an intensive session that brings together residents to tackle a particular challenge for the city. In this case, we’ve chosen the challenge to be how we improve transport in and around Eastern Suburbs and the city.

Social Pinpoint has kindly donated their Cloud based software to the project, which allows you to enter your ideas, pain points, and other suggestions for traffic, public transport, cyclists, pedestrians, and all manner of moving things onto an interactive map of the area.

Simply go to https://wellington.ourcommunitymap.com/traffic now to get started.

The Hackathon has started. We’ll be taking the data over the next month from Social Pinpoint and other sources to fuel our weekend long event. So if you are registered or not, you can enter your ideas from today whether you are at home, work, a cafe, bar, or bus.

Get involved. Make a difference. It’s your city.
